Extremely 911 & Incredibly Oscar-Bait

wait this is a joke right

God forbid they nominate a quality film.

Best Friend Harry, a native New Yorker and an English major who’s read Jonathan Safran Foer a hundred times, hated this movie. Said it did zero justice to the book and, of course, hammed up the 9/11 elements and the traaaagedy of it all, when in the book it’s more about Oskar’s attempt to deal with his father’s death through his own journey.
tl;dr shut the hell up oscars nomination board.

I read the book and didn’t care for it. No more overly precocious child narrators please.

Yeah same here. He’s a good writer but am sick to death with the overly precocious child narrator too. And I doubt the film adaptation could ever take the narrative down to the level of a young child, instead they probably padded the bits with Tom Hanks and definitely bumped up the ‘tragedy of 9/11’ bits to make it more ‘relevant’ or ‘relatable’.
The book was more about Oskar’s little world.
