When I meet someone who smokes I usually don’t gel very well with them in real life. I only have a hand full of friends who smoke but when they ask me to go outside to smoke with them I am like “nah”. Unless I am drunk, then I don’t care.

I have tried smoking myself and I always have the worst throat the next day. Unless it’s going to get me high, then why do I want to smell and get yellow teeth?

I don’t understand smokers and for a while smoking was a really big issue for me; I basically thought people who smoked were lost causes. But now it’s become trendy again (since the ban students think it’s cool to smoke again) so I’ve ended up befriending a few people who smoke and trying to hold in my coughs.

I don’t understand this view of smokers as morally corrupt. In fact I find it unjustified and judgmental.

In all seriousness - how does my dependance on nicotine reflect on me as a person? I understand non smokers might find it hard to make friends with people who are always huddled together outside and smell bad but “lost cause”…?

I don’t think shaming people for having an addiction is the way to make friends.

I’m friends with smokers and non smokers. As far as I’m concerned as long as I ask when and where it’s okay for me to smoke when I’m around people who don’t and consider the people around me, especially avoiding children, there’s no reason for me to be seen as a horrible person because I made the mistake of taking up smoking when I was 16.

For srz. Why.

It’s not a conscious thing at all I would just freak the fuck out around any smokers because of very very bad experiences with smoking and with illness which I won’t try to explain because I don’t expect people to understand or even care about the extreme emotions I have tangled up with cigarettes.

As I said, it was a very big issue with ME. My issue. My issue. My issue. My problem. In the past. Which never in any way hurt anyone else because how could it possibly?
