makes me sick to my stomach

to see all these loyal female fans in the punk scene following man-band after  man-band after gravelly-voiced man-band, going to gig after gig where not a single woman gets up on stage. Because that’s all it takes to belong in the punk scene, you’ll always have to work harder and ostracise yourself if you want to see any kind of equal representation. Because to sit nice and comfortably all you have to do is look punk and preferably be male - politics are optional. And I’d just like to see a little bit of solidarity, I’d like it not to seem like a coup when I attempt to talk to another woman.

I’d like to be able to talk to another woman (IRL and on facebook/tumblr) and them not shuffle away like it’s the most awkward thing in the world/ totally blank me. But no! I’m forced to talk to dudes  myself.
